The start of school is almost here! And I'm feeling the pressure to finish my summer reading list ASAP. Afterall, there's a million more books to read after these 10. :) And so I've started reading another book before finishing BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. Have you ever done that- read two books at once? Or three? I'm reading MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN on my Nook.
This is a really cool book- it's got bizarre old photographs of creepy people in it. I did a little research on the background of this novel: the author had been collecting dozens of old pictures from estate sales for years. He then wove a story that connects them all together. It's a fantasy story with my favorite elements: time travel and loops. When characters are caught in a "loop," them live the same day over and over again. (Think of the books, BEFORE I FALL or ELEVEN BIRTHDAYS or the movie, Groundhog's Day.)

Wow! It's been a long time since I've updated my blog. The school year took off, and I've been busy in the library ever since. What have I been reading all this time?
Well, I read SWIM THE FLY, one of the books nominated for the Evergreen Book Award. It was HILARIOUS; however, if teenage boys gross you out, you may not like this book... they are definately boys being boys.
Swim the Fly by Don Calame: Book Cover
Check out the You Tube video of the author, by clicking HERE.
Currently, I'm reading another Evergreen Book Award nonimee: NORTH OF BEAUTIFUL.
It's about a high school girl with a large, red birthmark on her face. Experimental new surgery may make her "beautiful" but her challenges in life are about more than just her appearance.
